We participate in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP).
Applications are only accepted through the ERAS system.

Applicants must meet one of the following qualifications to be eligible fellowship training:
 

  1. Graduate of U.S. or Canadian medical school accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA).
  2. Graduate of a foreign medical school with:
    1. A valid ECFMG certificate or–
    2. Completion of Fifth Pathway Program provided by a medical school accredited by the LCME or –
    3. A full and unrestricted license to practice Medicine.

Applicants must have successfully completed a 3-year internal medicine residency prior to that anticipated start date of the Infectious Diseases fellowship program.
Applicants must have passed USMLE Steps 1, 2, and 3.

The University of Connecticut accepts applicants who are United States citizens, or foreign nationals who have J-1, EAD, or permanent resident status. The University of Connecticut School of Medicine/Capital Area Health Consortium does NOT sponsor H-1B or O visas.

Candidates will be selected for the NRMP rank list and order on the basis of their academic credentials, preparedness, ability, aptitude, communication skills, and personal qualities such as motivation and integrity as demonstrated during the interview and from their medicine programs and letters of reference.

The NRMP match is binding.

No resident will be permitted to begin training without legal permission to work in the U.S. The University of Connecticut is under no obligation to hold any position for any candidate who matched but who does not have legal documentation to work in the United States.
